Fast Motion

The action appears to be moving faster than normal. This effect is achieved by shooting more frames per second (fps) than the standard playback speed and then playing them back at the normal frame rate. This technique is often used for comedic effect or to condense time.

Hyperlapse

Hyperlapse is like a time machine on steroids, it's used in cinema to compress hours of footage into just a few seconds, and make even the most mundane scenes look like a wild rollercoaster ride. It's perfect for showing off the beauty of a location without boring the audience with a long, drawn-out scene.

Timelapse

In a time-lapse video, the frame rate is stretched out far more: when played back at average speed, time appears to be sped up. “It's the reality around you, but sped up in a way that you can see it unfold in real time".

Time Slice

A timelapse that has been broken into ‘slices’, creating a different passage of time in each slice. Often creates a gradient-like effect.
